• However, if you need to send this to a corporate client or do heavy manual editing, you need to leave the browser. Click the Share button in the top right corner, go to the Export tab, and select Export to PowerPoint (.pptx). 

• The tool will process the file and save a native, editable presentation directly to your computer. Once downloaded, you can manually swap images, resize boxes, and rewrite text natively in Office.

(Warning: As we will explain in the next section, exporting from a fluid web tool to a rigid desktop app is a complex translation. Always open the downloaded file in Microsoft PowerPoint to manually check and fix the formatting bugs that occur during the export process!)

We Put Gamma to the Test: 3 Real-World Scenarios

Most reviewers just type a basic prompt and praise the output. Our 24Slides designers, Gabriel Morales and Leonardo Acaro,  took it a step further. We ran three agency-level stress tests to see if this tool can actually survive a demanding corporate workflow.

Test 1: The "Import File" Feature (PDF to Presentation)

Can Gamma accurately convert a complex corporate document into a slide deck? To find out, we uploaded a real, data-heavy Pharma ROI Whitepaper (PDF)—a document we actually use for our pharmaceutical clients.

Unlike the standard "Generate" mode, the Import feature doesn't give you a main prompt box. The AI simply extracts your document's text directly into the editor. While Gamma does provide an "Additional instructions" box on the side, we intentionally left it completely blank. We wanted to see exactly how well the AI could organize the content purely on its own.

Here is what we found during the review:

• The Good (Amazing Data Fidelity): The AI extracted the complex information flawlessly. The absolute highlight was the chart generation. Because our original PDF was already visually designed with tables and graphs, Gamma recognized that hierarchy and actively replicated the charts with near-perfect accuracy.

• The "Pre-Designed" Bias: We discovered a major caveat. Gamma performed well here because our PDF was already structured by human designers. Later, we ran the exact same test using a raw, unformatted text document of the same report. Without human design cues to guide it, the AI got confused and highlighted secondary, unimportant topics on the main slides.
• The Ugly (Space Optimization Bugs): This is where the "Liquid Canvas" fails. The layout distribution was poor. Some slides were generated so tall that we actually had to scroll down during "Present Mode" to read them—a massive disruption for a live pitch.

The Designer's Verdict on Imports:

While finding a pre-made theme that matched our corporate colors was seamless, the structural conversion requires careful oversight. Transitioning Gamma's fluid web-cards into a traditional 16:9 format occasionally resulted in layout inconsistencies or required multiple attempts to apply correctly. 

Additionally, we noticed minor formatting details, such as repeating slide numbers, that require manual correction. Ultimately, the import feature is a powerful time-saver for extracting complex data, but the resulting deck still requires significant human refinement to achieve a polished corporate finish.

Test 2: Pre-Made Templates vs. AI Generation

Instead of letting the AI hallucinate a layout from scratch, we wanted to test Gamma's structured "Workspace Templates." We used the exact same Digital Marketing prompt from our earlier examples, but this time, we forced the AI to build it inside a pre-designed "Marketing" template.

Here is what we found during the review:

• The Good (Accent Images & Data Flow): The information hierarchy was actually very strong. The AI successfully adapted to the template's layout, and it was incredibly easy to manually change the diagrams afterward. We also selected the "Accent Images" setting, which smartly generates aesthetic placeholders so you can easily drop your own corporate photos in later.

• The Bad (Missing Text Controls): We discovered a major UI inconsistency. When you use the "Template" mode, Gamma removes the "Amount of Text" setting (which usually lets you choose "Concise" or "Minimal"). Because we couldn't limit the text, the AI decided to stuff a massive amount of information onto each slide.
• The Ugly (The Scrolling Bug Returns): Just like in our PDF Import test, the layout sizing was highly erratic. While some slides looked great in 16:9, others were generated so tall that we had to actively scroll down to read the bottom half.

The Designer's Verdict on Templates:

Using a Workspace Template provides the exact same AI precision as using a standard "Theme," but with fewer setup controls. Because you cannot control the text density via settings, you must explicitly tell the AI to "keep text concise" directly in your prompt.

Ultimately, templates are a massive time-saver for generating dense, text-heavy internal reports where branding isn't critical. However, due to the limited selection of templates and the erratic slide heights, we do not recommend this mode for formal, client-facing pitches.

Test 3: The Brand Compliance Test (Custom Themes)

Corporate clients demand strict adherence to their Corporate Visual Identity (CVI). For our final test, we built a Custom Theme using 24Slides' exact hex codes to see if Gamma could replicate a true agency-level deck.

To really test the AI's design capabilities, we took a different approach than Test 1. Instead of using a beautifully pre-designed corporate document, we fed Gamma a completely raw, unformatted PDF that contained nothing but plain text and basic tables. We wanted to see if our custom theme alone could elevate a raw document into a premium presentation.

(Full transparency: If you look closely at the "Additional instructions" box in the screenshot below, you will see we accidentally left a command asking the AI to "Follow the brand guidelines... found in the PDF." Because this specific PDF had absolutely zero design elements, the AI had no visual cues to extract!)

Here is what we found during the review:

• The Good (Color Accuracy): Gamma accepted our custom hex colors and applied them beautifully across the deck. We also selected the "placeholder" image option, which allowed us to easily drop in a high-quality stock photo on the cover slide later. Overall, the colors felt accurate to our brand.
• The Bad (Granular Restrictions): We immediately hit a wall with typography. Gamma only allows you to select one font for all titles, with no variations permitted. As we noted in our 'Cons' section, text sizes are pre-set, so we couldn't make micro-adjustments. Furthermore, your custom corporate logo will only display if you are actively using Gamma's web "Presenter Mode."
• The Ugly (The Loss of the "Wow Factor"): Because the source PDF had zero human design cues, the AI didn't know how to prioritize the data visually. The resulting design was incredibly flat. It just painted our brand colors over generic, repetitive blocks. It completely lacked the dynamic "BAM!" factor that engages an audience.

The Designer's Verdict on Custom Themes:

Creating a custom theme in Gamma is a great time-saver for internal updates where aesthetics don't matter. But for client-facing pitches, applying brand colors to rigid boxes isn't enough. Our Creative Designer, Leonardo Acaro, summed up this AI limitation perfectly:

"AI treats design as a math problem—calculating the perfect center and the safest margins. But great design is emotion. Sometimes you have to break the grid, overlap the text, or create tension to make the message actually land. AI is programmed to never take that risk."

The Gamma PowerPoint Export Bug

If you search online, the biggest technical complaint about this software revolves around trying to download a Gamma AI PPT file.

Because Gamma builds dynamic, scrollable web cards, translating that web code into a standard Gamma PPT format is a highly complex process. When you hit download, our testing revealed two major dealbreakers for corporate design:

• Awkward Alignment & Wasted Space: Web cards don't map perfectly to fixed 16:9 slides. As seen in the example below, tall cards translate poorly, resulting in weird page jumps and massive amounts of unused space. The design completely fails to optimize the slide's real estate.

• Flattened, Uneditable Graphics: While Gamma's native charts look great on the web, they export as flat pictures. If your client asks you to update a percentage in the pie chart below, you can't just right-click and edit the data—you have to rebuild the entire chart from scratch.
